Head Coach Charlie Adam spoke to the local press after his side beat Burton Albion 3-0 impressively at Highbury Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

In what was a bittersweet afternoon as Town were already relegated, it was a professional performance from Town as goals from Carl Johnston, Pheonix Patterson and Ronan Coughlan gave the Cods a comfortable win in the Lancashire sun.

Goalkeeper David Harrington also made his debut between the sticks on Saturday, which was a positive for him and the Club.

Here’s what he had to say on the match itself...

“We could all wish and hope and pray there was more games to play, there is plenty of what ifs but unfortunately, we have fallen short, the performance today was a real professional performance, there was a real gulf in quality and 3-0 is a good result and a good way to end the season and to look into next season.

“I thought David Harrington was excellent today he has come in and shown some great character and made a statement for next season, the three goalkeepers we have at the minute all are in our plans for where all of them have to be ready to fight for next season and fight to be a first name on what is already a headache of a team-sheet with what we have planned.

“We have to be competitive which in some games we just dropped off this year, we will have to show our quality in the next league and show the fans we mean business because the supporters are the main-stay at this football club and I am proud to be the Head Coach, we will all be ready to go for next season.”

On the future of the club...

“The six loans will go back to their parent clubs but there will be plenty of business, not just at our club but at every institution in the country, we look forward to next season and we will be looking at going about our business early and getting people in the building.

"We have to pick the right players that add belief to our football club, we won’t just add players that don’t want to be at this football club, they will have to fit in the dressing room and they will want to be at this football club as there is a lot that goes on,

“We have a lot of targets not just player wise where since we have come in at the start of January the players have given us everything, we fell short but the application given to us from the players has been appreciated by the supporters and that doesn’t happen at many football clubs where the team has been relegated.

"We have a great togetherness as a group and that shows by the connection and support from the fans, whatever squad we put together next year there will be a togetherness and there will be a right, good feel-good factor at this football club.”

On what needs changing...

"We have clearly shipped too many goals this season, we are already looking at defenders which can hold off conceding so many goals because the front four, five can score a bucket-loads in the League Two, but if we get good human-beings not just good footballers in the door because we have such a good group but relegation means things have to change.

“The players we are looking at are League One quality, we aren’t just there to sit mid-table League Two, we have some great players in our camp that new players can bring energy and excitement.

“I will be back in Monday and we will be having constant meetings with the players, I will be in the next couple of weeks getting things organised for recruitment and for other things about this football club we are changing a few things at this football club and we are constantly improving the training ground.

"We are in a good place but at the end of next month I will be looking to get away with my family because it has been a long three months but that is what I signed up for.

“I am disappointed with the season but excited for the future, we will have a reset at this football club and see where we go, there will be some good news coming up where we are excited for that, Fleetwood is a club where we are excited to be at with what we are planning to do, the supporters should be excited.”
